Pleaded guilty and was convicted on charges of Embezzlement of UGX 176,000,000 and Abuse of Office in respect of the same money which was paid for construction of classroom blocks and 2 stance pit latrine He was sentenced to one year in prison and ordered to refund UGX 176,000,000. He was further barred from holding a public office for 10 years from the date of conviction.

    Ezra Nimusiima, Senior Treasurer Igora Town Council Ibanda District This matter was concluded through plea bargain on 27th October 2021. Ezra Nimusiima was convicted on charges of Embezzlement and Causing Financial Loss and was sentenced to a fine of UGX 2,000,000 or imprisonment for 3 years. He was further ordered to refund UGX 28,000,000. He was also disqualified from holding a public office for 10 years from the date of conviction.

  • Geoffrey Kazinda Vs UG (COA Criminal Appeals No 179 of 2020 and 208 of 2020)

    Geoffrey Kazinda was charged on 3 counts of illicit Enrichment This matter came up for Judgement on 24th March 2022 and Court of Appeal upheld convictions on three Counts of Illicit Enrichment. Court of Appeal Miscellaneous Application No 55 of 2021 was dismissed implying that now the IGG is free to dispose of the assets belonging to Mr. Kazinda. Under this application Mr. Kazinda had applied for a stay of the execution of the confiscation orders that were issued by the ACD Kololo in Criminal Case No 004/2016. This order covered land and development in Volume 2014 Folio 19, Plot no 1904 Bukoto Kyadondo Mengo Volume 1956, Folio 11, Plot No 264, Bukoto Sabaddu Kyadondo West Mengo Volume 213, Folio 21, Plot No 2132, Bukoto Mengo Motor vehicles AK1 BMW, AK2 Mercedes Benz, UAN 200X Dodge, UAM 200B.All these assets were valued to worth more than 4 billion shillings. The Appeal against sentence succeeded in part because his sentence was reduced to 12 years and since he had been on remand for 4 years and 5 months the 12 years were further reduced to deduct the pretrial custody time.

She was sentenced as follows Count I Causing Financial Loss she was sentenced to a fine of UGX 2,000,000 or two years’ imprisonment in lieu Count II Abuse of office she was sentenced to a fine of UGX 1,000,000 or one year’s imprisonment in lieu She was ordered to refund UGX 5,581,24 to the state. She was further ordered not to hold a public office for 10 years. The sentences were to run concurrently.
