Serve With Integrity: Deputy IGG Urges Newly Sworn-In Leadership Code Tribunal And Court Martial Members

Members of the Leadership Code Tribunal and the General Court Martial were today sworn in at the Judiciary Headquarters following their appointment by H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The newly sworn-in team of the Leadership Code Tribunal includes: Dr. Roselyn Karugonjo Segawa (Chairperson), Dr. Anthony Conrad Kaweesi Kakooza (Deputy Chairperson), Ms. Jane Okelowange (Member) Mr. Didas Bakunzi Mufasha (Member) and Ms. Annette Karungi (Member).

Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of the Inspector General of Government, the Deputy Inspector General of Government, Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria, congratulated the newly sworn-in members and conveyed warm greetings from the Inspector General of Government, Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala.

“The Inspector General of Government is very happy that the Leadership Code Tribunal is now in place. We have had a compilation of cases that require adjudication, and today marks a significant milestone in our collective journey towards upholding integrity, accountability, and transparency in governance,” Dr. Achan Okiria said.

She explained that the Leadership Code Tribunal was established to foster a culture of integrity among public servants and to provide a clear framework outlining the standards of conduct expected of leaders in government.

Dr. Achan Okiria urged members of the Leadership Code Tribunal and General Court Martial to execute their duties with diligence and seriousness, emphasizing that their decisions would have a direct impact on public confidence in government institutions.

“Your decisions will not only affect the lives of individuals but will also shape public trust in institutions. Your presence in the Leadership Code Tribunal and the General Court Martial will be pivotal in rebuilding that trust,” she said.

She further noted that the work of the tribunal will have far-reaching implications, reinforcing the principle that no one is above the law and that all leaders remain accountable for their actions.

She highlighted the importance of collaboration, stressing that the fight against corruption and the promotion of ethical leadership require collective efforts, partnerships and strategic alliances among stakeholders.

In her closing remarks, Dr. Achan Okiria reminded the newly sworn-in members of the weight of responsibility they had assumed through their oath of office.

“You have taken an oath to serve in this noble role. Let wisdom, courage and commitment guide you as you uphold the rule of law. May your tenure be marked by integrity, success and a positive impact on our nation,” she concluded.
