IG Part Of Ugandan Delegation Attending Cosp11 In Doha, Qatar

The Inspectorate of Government (IG)
is part of the over 178 anti-corruption bodies attending the five-day 11th
Conference of State Parties (CoSP11) in Doha, Qatar – under the theme, “Shaping
Tomorrow’s Integrity”. The Deputy Inspector General of Government, Mrs. Anne
Twinomugisha Muhairwe is representing the IG and is the alternate Head of the
Delegation from Uganda. The Head of the Delegation is the Minister of State for
Ethics and Integrity, Hon. Akello Rose Lilly.
The other agencies attending the meeting include Office of the Director
Public Prosecutions, Office of the Auditor General, Financial Intelligence
Authority, Leadership Code Tribunal, Office of the Attorney General and State
House Anti-Corruption Unit.
The CoSP provides a platform to
review and track the implementation of the United Nations Convention against
Corruption (UNCAC). During the meeting,
the state parties present their achievements, best practices and lessons in the
implementation of the UNCAC.
Uganda presented the following
strategies for eliminating corruption:
1. Setting
the right ethical culture in public service.
2. Institutionalization
of integrity mechanisms at central and sub-national administrative systems.
3. Adopting
a multi-pronged approach to enhancing efficiency, transparency and
accountability by digitalizing processes.
4. Mobilizing
the citizenry to prevent and respond to corruption.
5. Embracing
a whole of society approach to prevent and respond to corruption.
As part of the 11th CoSP,
the Deputy IGG will be a member of the panel on the United Nations Office on
Drug and Crime (UNODC) side event under the theme: “Capacity Building and
Independence of Anti-Corruption Agencies and Commission” on Thursday, 18th
December, 2025.
The Deputy IGG joined the
Minister to extend appreciation to the Government of Qatar for hosting COSP11
and the warm hospitality.
