The Inspectorate of Government has expressed concern over the low compliance by leaders to declare their assets and liabilities.

Under the Leadership Code Act, all leaders are required to declare their assets to the Inspectorate of Government every after two years, and this year, the exercise started on March 1, and will end on March 30.

The Deputy Inspector General of Government (IGG) Mariam Wangadya says that in the first ten days only 1,567 leaders out of the over 30,000 leaders have declared their assets and liabilities representing 5.2 percent.

She made the remarks as the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga submitted her declaration to the inspectorate on Thursday.

Wangadya also reminded outgoing leaders to ensure they fill the exit declaration form of assets and liabilities.
