Napak officials remanded over sh33m fraud

Two officials from Napak district have been arrested over misappropriation of public funds, embezzlement and causing financial loss of sh33m.

The officials who were arrested by the Inspectorate of Government (IG) are Joseph Kinei, a sub-county chief and Naomi Lemukol, a senior accounts assistant.

The IG Spokesperson, Munira Ali, said the duo was arrested on Monday from Napak and later transferred to Kampala, where they were presented before the Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo.

They denied the charges and were remanded to Luzira Prison after they failed to produce sureties so as to secure bail.
