Lands ministry officials have been accused of demanding money to provide information to Inspectorate of Government (IG) officials.

“Some of the zonal offices demand payment before providing the information, yet this was addressed by the lands ministry permanent secretary,” Victor Acidri, a Senior Principal Inspectorate Officer at the IG has said.

Acidri told stakeholders from the World Bank and lands ministry that the IG finds it hard to effectively enforce the Leadership Code Act due to the non-sharing of information.

However, Tony Kato, a government valuer, said it is a requirement to pay a search fee and that the payment is not a creation of lands ministry officials.
