We proactively combine ideological and disciplinary educations with public education on social morality, professional ethics and family relations and make every effort to build an anticorruption culture. We also actively initiate anticorruption awareness-building campaign covering every corner of the country, give publicity to anticorruption role models by using media extensively, guide public opinions in favor of anticorruption efforts and build an ideological climate honoring anticorruption efforts.
Building awareness of clean and honest administration is a significant groundwork for effectively preventing and combating corruption. We focus awareness-building efforts on leading officials, educate government functionaries on professional ethics, compliance with disciplines and laws and devotion to the public service, supervise and urge government officials to serve the general public in a clean, honest and wholehearted manner.
The Inspectorate of Government periodically undertakes National Integrity Surveys. The first National Integrity Survey (NIS I) was conducted in 1998 and the second (NIS II) in 2003. The purpose of NIS III was to generate empirical information to help Government, Civil Society, the Private Sector and other stakeholders to improve implementation of strategies aimed to promote good governance and reduce corruption.
For the 2009 International Anti-Corruption Day, a seminar under the slogan; “Corruption: Your No Counts” was held. It attracted over 215 participants from 47 organisations. A ten point programme to enhance the pursuit of millennium development goals and sustainable development through fighting corruption was adopted.
